Sustainable
practices may be served as an action of organization regarding the implementation
of environment-friendly strategy to decline the negative environmental
impacts. In other words, sustainable
practices means a system or procedure for meeting the current requirements
without compromising the capability of the future generations considering
social, economic as well as environmental factors (Negri et al, 2021). In the
modern era, within the fashion industry of United Kingdom, the role of
sustainable practices is increasing rapidly as it enhances brand loyalty. The sustainable business practices aids in
improving the brand loyalty by developing emotional connection with the
customers and building trust as well. Business commitment towards the
sustainability helps in making stronger relation with the eco-conscious
customers, leads to long-term loyalty. This also helps in gaining competitive
advantage in the high rivalry industry as currently customer prefers to
purchase products and services from a brand that focuses on implementing
sustainable practices within its operations.
In the present
times, the sustainable production as well as consumption is one of the emerging
concerns within the fashion industry. Currently, the customer becomes more conscious
about the environment as well as ethical practices as they prefers to purchase
products and services from the country that engage in operating business in
environment friendly and ethical manner. The UK fashion industry is responsible
for producing 750000 metric tons of carbon dioxide in year 2022 as well as it
is accountable for polluting water sources as well as throwing large amount of
textile waste on the landfill (Environmental impact of online fashion returns in the UK 2022, 2025). Besides this, sustainable practices not
only means operating business in an environment friendly manner but it also
includes social practices such as fair product sourcing and clear product
labeling to maintain transparency to the customers. Hence, the role of sustainable practice is
quite important in the fashion industry to decline negative environmental
impacts i.e. reducing carbon footprint, waste reduction. Using organic and
eco-friendly materials as well as attracting eco-conscious customers and
increasing profitability of the organization.
The current
research study will base on Primark, a fashion company of United Kingdom. The

offers wide range of affordable or sustainable clothing, accessories, home
goods and so more. It offers high-quality products at affordable prices and
considered as a one of the leading international retailer. It employed
approximately 80000 employees at all its stores (Primark, 2025). In current time, the organization emphasizes on offering
sustainable fashion with the aim of protecting life on the planet through
minimizing negative environmental impacts. The company focuses on optimizing or
implementing sustainable practices through manufacturing clothes in sustainable
manner, using recycling policy and decline carbon emission in its value chain. The
current thesis will evaluate the role of sustainable practice in enhance brand
loyalty of the organization via reviewing different literature. In addition,
several kind of methodology will used to collect data and to draw meaningful

influencing customer loyalty in regards to use of sustainable practice. Also,
it will discuss strategy of sustainable fashion that helps in attract
customers.
2.2
Understanding in relation to sustainable practice and
its role in enhancing brand loyalty
According
to the viewpoint of Khandare (2024), sustainable practice
refers to an action or tactic of the business in regards to implementing
eco-friendly strategies, fair and ethical practices within the business to
decline the environmental as well as social impacts. Apart from this, Elsawy and Youssef (2023) professed that sustainable practice refers to a system that is
designed to meet the requirements of the present generation without
compromising the need of the future generations. This concept consist
environmental, economic and social considerations.
Referring
to the perspective of the Khandai et al, (2023), sustainable
practice plays an important role in improving brand loyalty. The sustainable
practices allow the organization to increase brand image as well as reputation.
The company that use sustainable practices such as recycle policy, waste management, use of renewable energy
sources, organic material sourcing and so more, able to improve their overall
image as well as reputation in the eco-conscious customers. This leads to
enhance brand loyalty of customer and allows them to continue their purchasing with
company. For example, Primark sustainable practices of using sustainable
materials for manufacturing fashion clothes as well as use of waste management
practices, leads to create sustainable image of the company in rivalry
environment. It also results in attracting eco-conscious customer’s results in
enhancing brand loyalty among customers. However, according to the opinion of Rounaghi, Jarrar and Dana (2021), the implementation of the sustainable practices results in
increasing upfront cost of company. It leads to directly increase price of
product and services of the company which increase pressure on the customer
results in greater customer dissatisfaction significantly impact customer
loyalty.
Bhagat (2024) outlined that authentic and transparent sustainable practice of
the business leads to develop trust and creditability as well as build stronger
relation with customer who preferred to be eco-friendly. Hence, this leads to
foster a long-term brand loyalty with the customer results in retaining them
with a company. For instance, Primark`s sustainable practices in regards to
ethical sourcing, optimization of sustainable materials for production allows
in build a proficient connection with the customer. It motivates eco-conscious
customer to make purchasing decision or remain loyal towards the brands by
making repeat purchases leads to enhance brand loyalty. However, based on the
viewpoint of Ioannou, Kassinis and Papagiannakis (2023), presently several business makes false claims about their
sustainable practices to attract customer. This leads to negatively impact the
business and even make customer disloyal towards the brand, if they find that
company misleading them.

According
to the opinion of Thorisdottir et al, (2024),
sustainable practice plays an important role for fashion business to
distinguish its product from rivals as well as stand out the brand by
developing a unique selling proposition. Hence, by implementing sustainable
practices, fashion brands able to develop and create a positive brand
experience for the customers, result in building a loyal customer base, leads
to greater brand loyalty. On the other
hand, referring to views of Konuk (2023) product sourcing as well as clear product labeling also plays an
important role in developing brand loyalty. If company claims that it use
sustainable material like cotton to manufacture its product and keep label
accordingly and if the customer finds its incorrect then it result in breaking
trust of the customers. This leads to results in creation of negative image in
the mind of customers correspondingly negatively impact the brand image and
shift the customer loyalty towards the rivals.
Moreover,
Agu et
al, (2024) explained that there are positive relation
in sustainable practices and brand loyalty. In modern era, consumers remain
more loyal towards a brand that efficiently fulfills their responsibility
towards the environment. It leads to foster trust and engagement of customer
leads to motivate the buyer to make repeat purchases from the same brand,
ultimately results in enhancing the brand loyalty According to the interactive
brand loyalty theory, effective customer engagement is important for developing
sound emotional connection with the customers, leads to enhance brand loyalty.
Apart from this Pizzetti, Gatti and Seele (2021)
outlined that in current time several companies are engaged in a practice of
greenwashing. It refers to a practice of marketing product, services and
operations of a company as sustainable which is not true. The misleading
portray of sustainable practice leads to diminish the trust of customer in
organization as result negatively impact brand loyalty and company`s
reputation.
In
addition, González-Viralta
et al, (2023) demonstrates that sustainable practice
within a organization results in building a positive word-of-mouth. For
instance, the impressed customer from sustainability efforts or strategy of
company communicates their positive experience with others. Also, the
recommended the brand to others this leads to enable in enhancing brand loyalty
of the organization. However, Ali (2022) professed that a negative
word-of-mouth declines trust and connection with the brand as a result it
significantly declines brand loyalty.
2.3
Factors which affect the loyalty of consumers due to
the use of sustainable practices
According
to the Agu
et al, (2024), several factors influence the loyalty of
customers in regards to the use of sustainable practices. Transparency and
genuine efforts are considered as one of the factor that influences customer`s
loyalty. In current business environment, customers are remains more loyal to a
company that genuinely focuses on or prioritize sustainable practices within
their operations with the aim of reducing environmental impacts For instance,
Marks & Spencer have a strong commitment associated with the sustainable
practices, it is transparent about its material sourcing and waste management
policy. The transparency company demonstrate via its product offering and
sustainability report as a result the company able to enhance customer loyalty
in effective manner. In addition, organization`s open communication in regards
to its sustainable practices in its sustainable report at the end of the year
leads to increase transparency and authenticity, results in building trust of
the customer and making stronger relation with them, leads to enhance customer
loyalty towards the business.
Moreover, based on the perspective of Bart et al, (2023), organization sustainable initiatives as well as programs also
acts as a factors that impacts customer loyalty. Companies that remain engaged
in implementing sustainable programs as well as helping other organization to
implements sustainability within their operations results in gaining engagement
of greater number of customers. The sustainable loyalty program helps the
organization to gain trust of eco-conscious customer’s results in positive
impact on the brand loyalty of customers. This factor leads to restrict the
customer from switching to the competitive brand. For example, Zara focuses on
sustainable initiative of eliminating single-use plastic in its operation.
Currently, it optimize sustainable Kraft e-commerce boxes with cotton bags and
papers (Zara Sustainability, 2025).
This demonstrates commitment of company towards sustainable practices as a
results allows in enhance customer loyalty.
In addition, Arasyi and Kusumawati (2023) professed that green practices of the organization is one of the
main factor influencing loyalty of customer. Greater the number of green
practices within the organization, the greater attainment of customer loyalty
towards the business as it leads to grab the attention of more eco-conscious
customers. For instance, a fashion brand H&M found engaged in greenwashing
practice, the company claims optimization of several eco-conscious practices
but is found as false. This leads to break the trust of the customer ultimately
results in damaging company`s reputation and brand loyalty.
Furthermore,
based on point of view of Tran et al, (2022), it is identified
that modern time Generation Z and Millennial prioritize eco-friendly products.
In context to this, the commitment of brands towards sustainable practices
allows in attract eco-conscious customers and gain their brand loyalty, it also
allows in gain competitive advantage within the industry. In addition, Lopes et al, (2022) professed that sustainable practices allows the company to
distinguish its products and services from its competitors. Hence, the
distinguish factors also allows the company to improve its brand loyalty by
stand out as a unique organization within the industry.
According
to Mostafa and
Kasamani (2021), emotional connection is considered as
one of the factor that significantly impacts customer loyalty. The implementation
of eco-friendly practice allows company to operate business in ethical and fair
manner that enable in resonate with the socially conscious customers results in
enhancing brand loyalty. In reference with the stakeholder theory, it is
important for the business to consider the need and preference of all
stakeholders instead of shareholders only. According to the stakeholder theory,
implementing and offering products and services according to the needs of
customer such as eco-friendly merchandise allows the brand to make a emotional
connection with a company. This leads to help in enhance brand loyalty as well
as profitability of the company. Apart
from this Susanto
et al, (2022) professed that a positive brand image of
the company in a competitive industry also act as an effective factor impacting
customer loyalty. A company can create a positive brand image via its
sustainable practices, quality product or services and through its fair
marketing practices. It helps the organization in gain trust of the customer
and motivates them to do repeat purchases, results in enhancing brand loyalty.
For instance, Next Plc`s good brand image helps in gain customer loyalty,
allows the customer to select the brand over its competitors and encourages
repeating purchases.
In
additional sustainable practice not only concern with minimizing environmental
impacts but it is also associated with the fair and ethical labour practices.
According to the Alghizzawi et al, (2024), commitment
of the organization towards social responsibility including welfare of labour,
ethical sourcing plays an important role in enhancing customer loyalty. For
instance, the fair labour practices enable the company to treat its employees
in efficient manner, offer them development opportunities and so more. It
allows the employees to work with their full potential ultimately enhance
customer services that results in customer loyalty. On the other hand, based on opinion-of Arruda Filho and Barcelos (2021), unethical labour practices results in creation of negative
word-of mouth that significantly create bad image of company in market. It
leads to negatively impacts in attracting more customers as well as damaging
the loyalty of the existing customer also.
Moreover,
Safeer and
Liu (2023) professed that factor of perceived
authenticity enables in enhance customer loyalty for the company. According to
the brand authenticity theory, a customer more likely to engage or trust a
brand that is consistent, genuine and transparent in its action. When customer
finds that sustainable practices or commitment of company towards the
environment is genuine and true and it clearly visible in its action than it
leads to enhance the loyalty of customer. For instance, Primark`s sustainable
commitments quite visible in its action such as its sustainable offering,
in-store recycling programs, fair labour practices and so more that can be
witnessed in its sustainability report, leads to enhance loyalty of the
customers. However, Agu et al, (2024) outline that when a
company`s action not match to its sustainable commitments, than it result in
loss of trust of customer as well as harm to company`s reputation, ultimately
declines customer loyalty. For instance, in recent time an investigation made
by the CMA on ASOS, Boohoo and ASDA in regards to examine its sustainable
claims as their commitments vague to its action (UK
fashion brands investigated for misleading 'green' claims, 2025). This leads to erode the trust of customers on brand`s sustainable
practices results in diminishing their loyalty.
Furthermore,
based on review of Mohammad (2022), it is identified
that effective marketing is an important factors that influence customer
loyalty. The effective use of marketing allows the company to create awareness
of its product, brand and sustainable practices. The factor helps the
organization to communicate about its sustainable practice in different forms
such as via its product offering, advertising, content creation and so more.
Efficient marketing helps in creating strong trust and connection with the customer’s
results in increasing loyalty. In reference with this, to enhance the customer
loyalty, company can focus on optimizing AIDA model. Referring to this,
organization first prioritize on grabbing the attention of customer via
advertising the product or its sustainable practices. Afterwards, company focus
on building interest of customer by communicating more about its eco-friendly
product range and practices. Then, with the aim of increasing desire of the customer’s
advantages and values towards the sustainability demonstrated that makes
company distinguish from its rivals. Finally, via effective marketing, company
concentrate on motivating customers to take action of making purchasing
decision. This leads to encourage repeat purchases results in enhancing
customer loyalty.
However, Ringler et al, (2024) explained that demonstration effect also influences the customer
loyalty. The demonstration effect means individual behaviour and consumption
habits influence via observing others. For instance, when a customer evaluates
that others purchases a company`s products due to its effective sustainable
practices, than it leads to motivate the individual to purchase the products of
the brand. This leads to results in repeat purchase and also if products and
sustainable operations preferred by the customers than ultimately boost customer
loyalty. Apart from this, Wang (2022) highlighted that there is a high chances that imitated products or
sustainable practices of the brand can be unsatisfactory for the customer than
it results in diminishing customer loyalty.
2.4
Strategy and practice of sustainable fashion that is
most relevant to attract the consumers
According
to the Reddy
et al, (2023) utilization of eco-friendly materials is
one of the best practice to attract the customers who loves eco-friendly
products and sustainable practices. In current time, the fashion brands focuses
on producing its merchandise via using biodegradable, organic, eco-friendly and
recycled fabrics like hemp, organic cotton and recycled polyester. The practice
allows the fashion brand to fulfill its corporate social responsibility in
terms of minimizing negative environmental impacts while allows in reduce
dependence on non-renewable resources. However, Bhandari et al,(2022)
explain that sourcing of sustainable material is one of the main challenge in
supporting the sustainable fashion. There is scarcity of material and difficult
to access usually in large quantities, it makes onerous for the fashion brands
to optimize this strategy.
In
addition, based on Rehman et al, (2024) perspective,
waste management is an effective strategy for prioritizing the sustainable
fashion. In modern era, it is identifies that £140 million worth of merchandise goes to landfill in each
year within UK. Also, 30% of undesirable merchandises goes to landfill (Fashion Waste Facts, 2025). The wastage
results in greenhouse gas emission as well as soil and water erosion. Hence, to
promote sustainable fashion and to grab the attention of wide range of
customers, organization can focus on reduce, reuse and recycle policy. This
allows the company`s to decline the wastage, ultimately results in grabbing
environmental lovers. For instance, H & M introduced a Garment collection
program, under this customers can bring old or undesirable clothes to company`s
store and put it into a recycle bins and in return gets a discount vouchers.
The collected merchandise recycled by H&M to effectively manage the waste.
Therefore, the strategy allows in doing business with sustainability while
inviting green customers. Contrary to this, Younus (2025) discussed
that the waste management strategy increase cost for the fashion company in
terms of maintaining infrastructure, implementing recycling, recruiting labour
and so more. Although the benefits of strategy are greater than its drawback,
hence it is one of the impactful strategy for sustainable fashion. It allows in
fascinate more consumers towards the company leads to enhancing brand loyalty
as well.
Moreover, through
evaluation of views of Kaner and Baruh (2022), it is
recognized that effective communication act as a best strategy for sustainable
fashion. The strategy include clear and transparent communication of company`s
commitment towards the sustainability, its material sourcing process,
production details, usage of renewable energy sources, fair labour practices
and so more. In reference to the communication strategy, company can optimize
4P`s model of marketing. In support with the theory, the sustainable fashion
brand communicates about its products sustainability features, its price policy
and distribution channel such as online platform and physical store. Also, to
promote the sustainable merchandise and practices, the company can use social
media platforms such as Instagram, You Tube to communicate or share the story
of brand behind its sustainability commitments. Through collaboration with the
top influencer company can share about the eco-friendly practices ultimately it
helps in grabbing the attention of greater number of customers. Inversely, Wei and Jung (2022) professed that inappropriate use of communication strategy in
sustainable fashion leads to damage brand image of company. For instance, when company
share incorrect information about the sustainable practices and it proofed as
wrong then customer consider the practice as a fraud. It results in losing
trust of buyer leads to negatively impacts customer attraction. The misleading
statement makes difficult for the brand to trust the sustainable practices of
company as a result consumer considers it as a marketing tactic only.
Based on
perspective of Ortegón Cortazar et al, (2025), to
promote sustainable fashion slow fashion model is one of the sustainable
strategy. The practice advocates quality over quantity and motivates the
customers to purchase fewer. In terms of sustainable fashion, the strategy
prioritizes durability and quality (Sustainable Fashion
Strategies, 2025). The strategy is helpful in
attracting customers who believes n waste management and values sustainability
and longevity. The strategy is just opposite to the fast fashion model, that
engages in quick production as well as consumption of the low-cost merchandise.
Inversely, Centobelli
et al, (2022) explained that the strategy of slow
fashion model is quite useful for the promoting sustainability but it includes
a challenge of high cost for the slow fashion clothes, it acts as one of the
main barrier to attract low and middle income customers.
Casciani and D’Itria (2024) explicated that strategy of technology adoption play an important
role in sustainable fashion. In fashion sector, technology plays crucial role
in driving sustainability via optimizing cutting-edge technologies like
internet of things, AI, big data analytics and so more. The use of AI allows
the fashion brands to manage inventory level, forecast demand, identifying
sustainability trends and operating activities with minimal wastage. The
strategy allows in conducting business in sustainable manner by declining waste
and optimizes production process. The company can use technology to make
personalized recommendations by identifying their needs for sustainable or
organic clothes, leads to help in inviting customers towards the brand.
According to Rana (2024), one of sustainable fashion strategy is green and transparent
marketing. The marketing strategy refers to promoting eco-friendly products and
practices of the company in truthful manner without having any kind of
misleading statement. Referring to the strategy, the company promotes its brand
in ethical manner by openly communicate eco-friendly practices of production,
material sourcing and supply chain. The practice allows in depict the true
picture of company`s operation as a result allows in attract greater number of
sustainability prefer customers. The strategy enables in formed a trust with
the consumers, results in enhancing brand loyalty. For green and transparent
marketing, a company can use social media platform, digital marketing or traditional
marketing. However, Adamkiewicz et al, (2022) explained
that greenwashing is a biggest threat in sustainable fashion as well as
attracting the customer. A misleading claim of the company about its
sustainable practices results in breaking the confidence of customer in brands
as a results effectively decline the customer retention rate.
In addition, in
reference with Onyekwelu et al, (2024) perspective,
fair and ethical labour practices also plays a vital role in attracting
socially conscious customers towards the company. Fair labour practices
includes offering appropriate wages, proficient working culture, respecting
dignity and respect of human rights and so more. The practice allows the
sustainable fashion brand to create a good brand image within the industry,
result in attracting customers who prioritize social welfare of the customers. In
addition, a introduction of fair labour practices also enhance supply chain,
leading to effective production process as a result customer can fulfill their
demand of sustainable clothes at timely manner, leads to greater customer
attention towards the brand. In against
of this, Gabriel
et al, (2022) discussed that a company that
discriminated its workers or not focuses on their well-being have to face
greater repercussion. The brand face negative word-of-mouth results in
tarnishing its reputation and goodwill in the competitive industry, hence
switch the customers towards its rivals.
In addition Vangeri et al, (2024) outline that use of sustainable practices such as eco-friendly
practices, optimization of renewable energy sources for production, managing
waste in terms of water and materials plays an effective role in focuses on the
sustainable fashion. In current time, the customer become eco-conscious as a
result they loves to buy products from fashion brand that understands their
sustainable responsibility. In addition, purchasing products from the
sustainable brands also allows the customers to contributes towards the
sustainability. Hence, the practices of fashion brand helps in create a
emotional connection with the customers results in attracting potential buyers
towards the sustainable fashion organization. Apart from this, Arend (2025) highlight
that non-optimization of sustainable practices within the fashion organization
make the brand ineffective for the eco-conscious customers as it results in
creation of negative perception about the company. As a result of this, the
consumers starts boycotting the brand, it leads to also decline the existing
customer base result in decline company`s sales and profitability.
2.5
Literature Gap
Earlier studies have been done on
the significance of sustainable practices in fashion industry, but no research
has done on exploring the role of sustainable practice in enhancing brand
loyalty. Therefore, the study will fulfill the gap via conducting research on
topic assessing the importance of sustainable practices in brand loyalty.
2.6
Conclusion
To sum up, it is identified that sustainable practice plays an important role in minimize adverse environmental impacts and gaining trust of the customers. The fashion industry have a large environmental impacts hence fashion brands implements sustainable practices of waste management, ethical sourcing, fair labour practices, slow fashion model to attract eco-conscious customers and improve brand loyalty.
3. CHAPTER THREE: RESEARCH
METHEDOLOGY
3.1 Introduction
Research
methodology refers to a method that is used by the researcher to conduct the
research study. In simple words, a research methodology explains the way in
which the data is gathered and evaluated to draw an appropriate interpretation.
In context of successful research study, the scholar is required to choose best
research method so that a meaningful conclusion can be drawn. The chapter will
evaluate several research methods and the appropriate reason for selecting them
for research study so that a meaningful conclusion can be made of research
topic.
3.2 Research Type
Research
type is defined as diverse methodologies that can used by the researcher to
conduct research and analyses the objectives. The scholar required to select
best type of research for the succession of the research study. The two methods
of research type are mainly qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative
research type focuses on collection of non-numerical data which enables to
effectively understand the experience, opinion and concept (Lim, 2024). The research type has a clear emphasize on attaining theoretical
insight of the research topic. It focuses on the significance of understanding
the event within their natural context, ultimately furnish a more holistic
view. Apart from this, quantitative research type means making use of facts,
figures and numerical information to gain insight about the research topic. The method used by scholar to search
averages, patterns as well as make predications, testing casual relationships
and generalizing the outcome to wider population. To identify the role of
sustainable practice in improving brand loyalty within Fashion Company, qualitative
research type is used. The reason of selecting the qualitative research type
includes that it offer an in-depth insight of the human behavior and aids in
uncovering the complex patterns and trends that can be missed in quantitative
method. In addition, the research topic is also qualitative in nature, hence
compliance with the qualitative research type allows in effectively understanding
and evaluating the role of sustainable practices in boosting brand loyalty. In
addition, qualitative research allowed in gaining perspective and experience of
respondents on the research topic correspondingly helps in drawing more
reliable and valid findings. The qualitative research type significantly offer
flexibility to the scholar in terms of gaining deeper insight of particular
research topic that might not capture in a quantitative research method.
3.3 Research approach
Research approach is defined as a
procedure that is followed by the scholar to collect, analyses and interpret
the data. In context of research, inductive and deductive are the two important
research approaches. Inductive approach is a bottom-up technique based on the
concept of generalizations. The approach includes observation of the collecting
data as well as identification of the patterns to develop new theories the
approach enables the investigator to progress from existing frameworks and
recognize previously overlooked patterns and connections. On the other hand,
deductive research approach is a top-down technique, it starts with forming the
hypothesis and then testing it by collecting information to draw a meaningful
conclusion (Kumar and Ujire, 2024). In current research, the investigator
has optimized an inductive approach to exploring the role of sustainable
practice on enhancing loyalty of brand within fashion sector. The scholar used
inductive approach for completion of the research study because it enables the
researcher to create aim and objective of the study as a result helps in done
the research in effective manner. Another reason of using inductive approach
includes its benefit of in-depth evaluation of research topic correspondingly
allows in effectively evaluating the role of ethical practices in fashion
sector that improves the loyalty of brand. In the inductive research, themes
are compared with the data, results in improving the robustness as well as
validity of the conclusions. Hence to drawn meaningful inferences, scholar made
use of inductive approach.
3.4 Research Philosophy
The philosophy defines as a belief
and opinion that direct the investigator to conduct the research study. It acts
as a lens for the scholar to understand the reality and optimizes theory to
support the methodology. The selection of research method based on diverse
kinds of values and beliefs and it requires to choose proficiently so that the
research work can be enhanced and overall objective can be attained well. There
are two major kinds of philosophy that can be selected by the scholar are
positivism and interpretivism. Positivism philosophy focuses on scientific
methods and empirical evidences and understanding of research topic gained via
measurement and observation. Besides this, Interpretivism philosophy is a kind
of sociological method that help the investigator in evaluating the theories, values
and beliefs that support the working of concept (Nickerson, 2022). For assessing the role of sustainable
practices in enhancing the loyalty of brand within the fashion industry,
interpretivism philosophy is used by the scholar. The reason of selecting the
philosophy is its effectiveness in evaluating the topic as a result it aids in
attaining the overall objective of research topic efficiently. Another reason
behind the selection of the interpretivism philosophy is its feature of
providing understanding of hidden reason as well as motivations behind
behaviors which makes the research sounder.
3.5 Data Collection
It is a procedure of collecting or
gathering the data from wide range of sources to get the solution of the
research problem. In context of completion of the research study, it is
important to select appropriate kind of data so that objective of the study can
be attained in well manner. Based on the kind of information, the methods of
data collection are divided into two categories including primary and secondary
data. Primary data collection method is concerned with the gathering of
first-hand information that has not been used in any other study. In other
words, it is a technique of collecting original information from reliable
sources without depending on earlier existing data. On the other hand,
secondary data collection method refers to collection of already existing data.
Instead of gathering first-hand data, the method includes gathering information
from the article, magazines, newspapers, books, journals, government
publications and so more (Mazhar et al, 2021).
In the current research study, the scholar
has used a combination of both primary and secondary data collection methods.
In reference with the primary data collection, the investigator gathered data
via conducting a survey on 30 consumers of Primark. Through optimizing a
structured questionnaire, the scholar collects first-hand information for
exploring the role of sustainable practices in boosting brand loyalty within
Primark. Along with this, by optimizing secondary data collection method,
researcher gathered already existing data similar to the research topic via
existing journals, books, articles and so more. The reason of selecting combination
of data collection method includes its effectiveness in collecting wide range
of data in less time and cost effective manner as a result it helped in drawing
meaningful and accurate conclusion from the research problem. The optimization
of combination of methods allows in recognizing different patterns and gaps
that might not be done while using only one method.
3.6 Sampling
It refers to a process of choosing a
group that enables the researcher to gather the data for the current research
problem. It acts as a fundamental
technique in research consisting selection of a small group apart from the
large population to represent the whole. In regards to sampling in research,
the scholar can use two methods such as probability sampling as well as
non-probability sampling. The former method is concerned with selection of
sample from large population on the basis of randomization (Rahman, 2023). The method provides equal
opportunity to each member to get selected as a part of research. On the other
hand, the latter method includes selecting the participants by using non-random
criteria. The scholar choose sample depending on the subjective judgment
instead of random selection.
In reference with exploring the role
of sustainability in enhancing brand loyalty within the fashion sector, the
scholar selects the sample using the probability sampling method. The
researcher selected 30 customers of Primark as a sample to evaluate sustainable
practice role in boosting brand loyalty.
The rationale behind optimizing probability random sampling method
includes selection of appropriate sample that represent whole population so
that scholar can able to made reliable inferences without any biases. The
sampling method is beneficial for doing fair and transparent research assist in
drawing accurate conclusion without any error. In addition, the researcher used
probability sampling as it saves time as well as resources by offering accurate
and authentic generalization from a small sample while declines the need to
conduct survey on whole population. Thus, it enables the scholar to maintain
validity of the study by making precise conclusion of the research study.
3.7 Data Analysis
Data analysis is define as a method
of evaluating and analyzing the gathered data. The technique allows the scholar
to gain insight from the collected information as a results allows in making
effective decision as well as inferences.
For the evaluation of data, the two important methods available to the
investigator are SPSS as well as thematic analysis. SPSS is a data evaluation
software used several methods such as inferential statistics, correlation,
descriptive statistics, regression and so more to interpret data and drawing
conclusion. Inversely, the thematic analysis is a method of developing themes
and patterns from collected data to make conclusion (Bueno et al, 2024). In reference with the present research
study, the investigator used thematic analysis to evaluate the collected data
to evaluate the role of sustainable practice in improving brand loyalty. The
researcher selects thematic analysis as it allowed in evaluate qualitative data
that gathered via survey. The method enables the scholar to effectively
understand the opinion, experience as well as perspective of the respondents in
detailed and rich manner as a result helps in draws reliable and valid
findings. Moreover, the another reason of selecting thematic analysis includes
better interpretation of data as it use charts, graphs represent the evaluated
data. This feature of the method makes it an appropriate way to evaluate the
data for the research problem. The thematic analysis enable the investigator to
evaluate and attain the objective of research in a well and effective manner.
3.8 Research Limitations
Research limitation refers to a
shortcoming within the research study that significantly influences the
reliability as well as validity of the study. The limitation usually remains
outside the control of the investigator but posed a great impact on the study.
One of the main limitation is concern with the selection of the accurate
sample. It is quite onerous for the scholar to decide appropriate kind of
sample. Hence, to overcome the problem, the investigator has made use of
probability sampling method as it allowed in choosing correct sample without
having any kind of bias. In addition, the limitation faced by the researcher is
related to time as for completion of the research study there was very less
time available. This limitation makes difficult for the scholar to complete the
research on time. However, the scholar overcome the shortcoming by effectively
using the time-management ability, it enables the investigator to prioritize
all research activities based on the schedules deadline. This helped in
completion of the research study on the time.
Moreover, during the research study
one of the cost constraint acts as a significant limitation. Conducting the
research study in a limited budget is quite challenging for the scholar. But
the researcher mitigates the limitation by using secondary data collection
method along with the primary data collection method. The secondary method
enabled the scholar to collects wide range of qualitative data in a
cost-effective manner, hence it ensures conducting a study in limited budget.
However, collecting secondary data was not easy as it is quite difficult to
find accurate and authentic sources that provide information related to similar
topic. To decline such a problem, the investigator use tactic of searching
keywords. This stands investigator in a better position to search similar articles
to topic to support primary findings along with the secondary sources.
3.9 Ethical consideration
Ethical
consideration refers to the set of rules that helps the scholar to conducts the
research study in fair and ethical manner.
In reference to the research study, scholar focused on voluntary
participation that allowed the respondents to participate in study without any
pressure. The participants are free to opt in or out any particular time from
research. In addition, to conducting the research in fair manner, informed
consent is taken from participants and also discussed the aim of the study and
its associated risk and benefits to provide clarity. In addition, compliance
with the ethical duty of confidentiality is important for creating trust between
researcher and participants (Hasan et al, 2021). In reference to
this, scholar emphasized on maintaining confidentiality of the sensitive
information of the participants by using encryption and keeping strong password
for accessing online documents. In addition, to maintain the anonymity of
participants, the investigator focused on not gathering the identifiable data
such as name, address, email, phone numbers etc. For research purpose,
investigator avoids asking sensitive question that creates discomfort to
respondents.
Moreover, with
reference to collecting the secondary data for evaluating the sustainable
practice role in improving brand loyalty, the scholar emphasized on collecting
data from secondary sources that are published after the year 2021. This source
helps in provide accurate and update information about the research problem. In
against to this, the collection of data prior to 2021 creates hurdles in
conducting authentic research. Also, to
compliance with the ethical consideration in research, the scholar focuses on
acknowledging the original scholar through appropriate citations. A list of
referencing attached at the end of the research study to ensure authenticity
and validity. Thus, by adhering the guiding and ethical principle of research,
the investigator manage to conduct the research study in ethical and fair
manner while attaining the objective of the study.
3.10 Reliability and Validity
Reliability in research study
defines as maintaining a consistency in analyzing the outcomes. Apart from
this, validity contains maintaining accuracy while computing the information (Coleman, 2022). Validity as well as
reliability are two of the main factors to ensure effectiveness of the research
study. The investigator emphasized on compliance with all elements in research
that ensure validity and reliability in research. In the study to identify the
role of sustainable practices in fashion industry in boosting brand loyalty,
the scholar make use of articles that are published after year 2021 to maintained
reliability of study. No article taken that published before 2021 as too-old
data as well as information not provide reliable and accurate information as a
result increase chances of creating wrong conclusion. Thus, the scholar used
all latest information to effectively support the primary findings that
collected from the 30 respondents. Apart from this, for maintaining the
validity of the research study, the investigator only made use of online
website that are protected by trademark, copyright as well as any other
intellectual property right. The
trademark and copyright sites ensures that all data taken from the sources is
authentic correspondingly demonstrate that research study offered only valid
and reliable information.
3.11 Conclusion
To sum up all, it is articulated that for the successful completion of research study and attainment of research objective, selection of appropriate type of research method is important. The above chapter highlighted that to recognize the role of sustainable practice in improving brand loyalty within the Primark, use of qualitative research type helps in attain objective. Moreover, it was assess that the optimization of mixture of primary as well as secondary data assist in maintain the study in well manner. In context to this, a sample of 30 consumers of Primark was selected to conduct survey and gathered data by using a structured questionnaire and evaluated via the thematic analysis. The chapter highlighted that use of combination of primary and secondary methods helped in completion of the study in proficient manner.

its sustainable practice. Additionally, the increasing popularity of
sustainability within the fashion brand also leads to negatively enhance the
concept of green washing. It means that company claim false sustainable
practice to market its product. The concept of green washing significantly
erode the trust of customers on the fashion brands as a result presently
customers only make purchasing decision or attracted towards a brand after
