BM631: Research Methods Assignment
1. Introduction: Research Methods Assignment
Ethical
consideration refers to the process of analysing moral implication of the
particular policy, decision and action within research. It is pivotal process
that ensures fairness and safety of all stakeholders within the study. The
current report will define diverse ethical activities and actions that have
been undertaken while identifying the influence of compensation on the worker’s
motivation.
2. AIM
Current study is
aimed to investigate the influence of compensation strategies on overall
performance and motivation of workers within Morrison.
3. Objective & Research Question
Objectives
Ø To study the concept of compensation strategies and its types.
Ø To analysis theoretical underpinning related to employees motivation
and performance.
Ø To establish interrelationship between compensation strategies and
worker’s motivation within Morrison.
Ø To suggest effective strategies to Morrison’s manager for boosting
overall motivation and performance of employees.
Research
question
Q1. What are the organization’s
compensation strategies and its types?
Q2. Which theories and models are
associated with the employee motivation and performance?
Q3. What is the impact of compensation
strategies on overall motivation and performance of the workers?
4. Methodology
Research
approach
Research approach refers to diverse steps that are followed for
collecting, analysing and interpreting data (Taherdoost,
2022). This approach has been divided into two parts
that includes deductive and inductive approach. Inductive method will be used
by researcher for exploring the influence of compensation strategy on overall
worker’s motivation. This method offers an opportunity to form large number of assumption
which aids in gaining topic specific conclusion. Moreover, this method is based
on bottom-up approach which aids in collecting holistic information related to the
study.
Research
design
Research design refers to the strategy for answering a research
questions and issue. Qualitative and quantitative are the two distinct type of
research design which can be undertaken by the scholar (Mulisa, 2022). In the context of
present study, qualitative method will be used that aids in exploring opinion
and viewpoints of the respondent. This method supports in exploring a reason
why particular perception is formed which in turn enhances overall
understanding. This will help in identifying how and why employee motivation is
influenced by the compensation strategy.
Data
collection
Data collection is the systematic method of accumulating huge amount
of information from the diverse sources (Vijayan et
al, 2021). For identifying the influence of
compensation strategy data will be gathered using both primary and secondary
method. Primary method aids in gaining first hand & original perception of
respondent and thereby forms an adequate conclusion. In this regard, 30
employees of Morrison will be surveyed through questionnaires. Along with this, secondary method will be
used that include analysing past data which aids in understanding the experts
perception. In this context, diverse books, journals and articles has been
evaluated related to compensation strategies and employee motivation.
Research
participant
For determining influence of compensation strategy on employee
perception, random sampling method will be used by researcher. In this regard,
30 Morrison’s employee will be selected that aids in collecting highly representative
information.
5. Ethical Consideration
a.
Respect for autonomy, privacy and dignity
Researcher has
concentrated over maintaining autonomy, dignity and privacy with the aim of
carrying out study in an ethical and fair manner. In the context of managing dignity
and autonomy, an informative sheet has been offered to the respondent. This
sheet helps in defining overall aim, rationale and objectives behind conducting
study which aids in promoting the transparency (HWANG, 2023). Moreover, this sheet also stated all the potential hazards and
benefit of participating in the study. Along with this, informative sheet will
include the contact detail of researcher that helps respondent in clarifying their
queries easily and thereby promotes ethnicity. Further, dignity will be maintained
by offering voluntary participation that helps respondent to leave study at any
point of time. Under this, a consent form will be filled up that indicate the respondent’s
approval to participate in the research. In addition to this, researcher has
focused over managing confidentiality and privacy by storing all confidential
information through password protected software. Moreover, researcher has
emphasised over managing trust & confidence of respondent by reducing the scope
of data exploitation and restricting access of unauthorised people.
b.
Scientific integrity
In the course of
maintaining scientific integrity, researcher has focused over promoting
transparency and honesty within study. For managing integrity, researcher will
follow all the legal, ethical and professional standards and regulations (Ethical consideration in research, 2024).
Further, research will be aligned with university guidelines that support in
avoiding any type of unethical practices. In this context, scope, currency,
timeliness, reason and reliability of the past studies will be evaluated based
on which relevancy could be determined. Moreover, all the information will be
accurately cited to define the original sources of data. Along with this,
researcher has involved close ended question in survey which support in
avoiding scope of data manipulation and thereby maintaining overall scientific integrity.
c.
Social responsibility
Each employee
works with the aim of earning a significant amount of financial and
non-financial incentives. This study will define diverse type of compensation
strategies to the workers based on which accurate decision could be initiated.
Moreover, this study also indicates employee’s motivational factors that help
organization in fulfilling their needs effectively. Besides this, outcome of the
present study will motivate business entity to offers adequate compensation and
thereby avoids the workers exploitation.
Further, this study will help in managing employees’ satisfaction that
supports organization in earning higher profits.
d.
Maximising benefit and minimizing harm
It has been identified
that managing privacy is major constraint in successfully conducting study. To
overcome same, researcher has utilized diverse digital platform to collect and
store data which eventually aids in managing confidentiality. Further, lack of
employee’s co-operation could result into gaining inaccurate response that
influences overall quality of the study. To avoid the same, an accurate
questionnaire has been drafted that avoid any personal and sensitive questions.
The current study is highly important for all the retail organization,
employees and manager of the company (Tumi, Hasan and Khalid, 2022). It will also denote diverse factors that impact employee
satisfaction and also clarify various influences of compensation strategies on
overall worker’s motivation.
In conclusion, it can be stated that consent form and informative sheet will be offered which supports in maintaining overall ethnicity of the study. Further, researcher will follow all university, legal, ethical and professional standard as to maintain the ethnicity.
